  • Responsibilities

    Role and Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    • Answers all incoming calls on multiple lines, queries claims system and forwards to the appropriate claims personnel
    • Determine the nature and urgency of each call and direct for the best solution
    • Answer and assist with incoming calls for the bill review department
    • Experience with multi-line telephone system, handling a high volume of incoming calls
    • Process authorization requests within system, responsible for sending outgoing correspondence to necessary parties.
    • Maintain confidentiality- Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to HIPPA and PHI
    • Proficiency in basic computer programs, telephone skills, general knowledge of printers, fax, copier, scanners preferred
    • Must be flexible and able to handle fast work pace with constant interruptions
    • General clerical tasks

    Other job duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

     

    Education: High school diploma required.

     

    Experience: One year of working in a medical or insurance/claims office environment preferred, but not required. Medical Terminology preferred.

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Strong communication skills; customer service mindset; team player
    • Adheres to professional standards, codes of ethics, system and department policies and procedures
    • Incorporates the philosophies of continuous quality improvement, customer service and teamwork into daily routine
    • Excellent typing and keyboard skills (35-40wpm)
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables. 
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and excellent organizational skills.
    • Ability to set priorities and work independently is essential
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Power Point to include the ability to create, edit, save and send documents utilizing Microsoft Word
    • Experience with multi-line telephone system, handling a high volume of incoming calls
    • Ability to work within a paperless environment

               

    EQUIPMENT OPERATED/USED:

    Basic Computer system, Microsoft program, Window, Word, Excel, Mutli-line telephone system, Fax

    Mental and Physical Requirements:

     

    Follow multiple-step verbal and written instructions to complete routine, repetitive tasks.

     

    Mathematical skills – add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers.

     

    Ability to compose professional, cohesive, and concise correspondence.

     

    Ability to organize data, file paperwork, mail correspondence and packages.

     

    Physical effort – light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force (moving boxes and binders).

     

    Computer typing and otherwise working with fingers.

     

    Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.

     

    Substantial movements of wrists, hands and fingers.
