  • Overview

    POSITION SUMMARYSupervises overall development of the total integrated absence management, claim personnel, and client satisfaction for all TRISTAR Absence and Claims Operations.

    Responsibilities

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    This position may perform some or all of the duties listed below:

     

    • Provide ongoing staff training and mentoring on client specific, system or business related matters to include updates to processes, regulations, laws and administrative procedures.
    • Responsible for updating Client Profile to ensure ongoing client change requests are consistently reflected and utilized accordingly.
    • In depth understanding of Federal and State Leave laws and benefit options as well as TRISTAR client’s specific leave and disability programs.
    • In depth understanding of self-insured Short Term Disability and ERISA Regulations.
    • Responsible for overseeing and maintaining work systems, procedures, and policies that enable and encourage the optimum performance of staff.
    • Perform regular monthly audits to ensure overall compliance and performance guarantee satisfaction.
    • Review performance data that includes activity reports and spreadsheets, to monitor and measure departmental productivity, goal achievement and overall effectiveness.
    • Empower staff to take responsibility for their jobs and goals. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback.
    • Provide effective performance feedback through general performance management, as well as employee recognition, rewards and disciplinary action, with the assistance of Executive Management and Human Resources, when necessary.

     

    • Maintain staff work schedules including workload assignments, job rotation, training, vacations and PTOs, cover for absenteeism, and request for overtime scheduling, if necessary.
    • Plan, evaluate, and improve the efficiency of business processes and procedures to enhance speed, quality, efficiency and output.
    • SOC1 Audit point of contact for the division.
    • Communicate regularly with other management staff, and staff integral to Operations.
    • Continuous attendance of seminars and/or other classes to enhance business knowledge and skills and in turn disseminating it to staff members.
    • Provide highest quality of customer service.
    • Attend annual DMEC Compliance Conferences.
    • Follow attendance policy: consistency in work schedule and punctuality.
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:           

     

    Education/Experience:  College Degree Preferred. Minimum of 3 years of responsible leadership experience or supervisory position. 5+ year knowledge and background in state and federal laws that govern disability issues/protected leaves such as Federal Family Medical Leave, California Family Rights Act and Pregnancy Disability Leave, Fair Employment and Housing Act.  In addition this employee should be knowledgeable of California Voluntary Disability Plans, ERISA STD Plans.

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:       

    • Ability to manage a diverse, fast-paced, multi-tasking, team-oriented workplace.
    • Ability to travel to conferences and client meetings in and outside of CA.
    • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching and development skills.
    • Excellent Written and oral communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Ability to solve complex problems and to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Comprehension of Disability Plan Documents, SOC and ERISA Guidelines.
    • Must have/or obtain a CPDM (Certified Professional Disability Management) and/or CLMS (Certified Leave Management Specialist) from IEA.
    • EDD – CUIC- CA Regulations Title22
    • Knowledge of EDD and SOC1 Audit processes
    • General Knowledge of Benefit Taxability
